Recently my mother called me and asked me to help her clean out my grandfather’s library. Comprising of a three meter bookcase, the library was lying underneath a hidden hatch in the living room. Books of all sizes, hard or soft – covered, written in various languages, published centuries ago or a decade before, were all carefully selected after years of research. “Oh, look at this…I remember my dad buying this guide for Turkey vacation packages when we were planning our first trip to Turkey”. She handed me the book, which was quite heavy, and I was instantly captivated by its cover. A hard brown leather cover with the embossed golden-colored title “Turkey vacation packages”. The appendix categorized the travel specialists for Turkey vacation packages for the year 1980 in alphabetical order. I quickly ran through it and picked one. The pictures and texts were delightful! The colors were still vivid and the testimonials from travelers pointed out that all Turkey vacation packages provided were rather enjoyable. Postcards by past guests from Istanbul, Ephesus, Cappadocia and Sirince urged the potential traveler to book one of these all inclusive Turkey vacation packages. The detailed references to all destinations by the tour operators were a travel thesaurus even for a 2012 tourist. “Can I keep it?”, I asked my mom, and I wasn’t really waiting for an answer. I had already taken the book and left the house. I had a Turkey vacation packages’ volume in my hands, ready to use in my next travel experience.
